Frequent Asked Questions

Q: What warranties does Blind Mart offer?

Answer: Blind Mart usually offers the same warranty as it's manufacturer's. Each company is different but typically it's 3 years on slats, cords, strings, and lifetime on metal components. While not required, Blind Mart repairs products it sells beyond the manufacturer's warranty at no charge. Be careful about blind retailers who offer a "Lifetime Warranty," because there is no such thing. Ask to see a copy of the manufacturer's written warranty if in doubt and read the exclusions.

Q: How long does it take to get my window treatments in and installed?

Most window treatments are in and installed within two weeks. Shutters vary between 3 and 8 weeks depending on the manufacturer.

Q: Who installs my window treatments?

Answer: We are very fussy about our installers. They are very experienced, clean, well groomed and the kind of person you can feel comfortable having in your home. The owner personally is on hand for most large jobs and always supervises shutter installations.

Q: Is there an additional charge for Installation?

All quoted  prices included installation unless we specify so before your order is placed.

Q: How do your prices compare?

Answer: On Comparable products, our prices are typically well below Lowe's and Home Depot and usually better than our competition. Since, we don't charge for quotes give us a try and see for yourself.

Q: How do I clean my window treatments?

Answer: Each product is a little different and we will be happy to give you detail instructions upon installation but for the most part a simple dusting or vacuuming with a dust attachment will keep your window treatments clean and looking fresh.

Q: What are Faux Wood Blinds made of and when are they preferred over real wood?

Answer: Faux Wood Blinds are made from a high quality PVC or a combination of PVC and wood. Not all Faux Wood is created equal so spending a few dollars more to avoid yellowing or warping is money well spent. In white or off whites our Faux Wood blinds are difficult to tell from real wood. In wood tones, we offer very realistic colors that will match most trim. Faux Wood is a great choice for areas of high moisture such as bathrooms and kitchens. Faux Wood does resist scratching and warping better than real wood and are easier to clean and maintain. Many people are surprised to learn that Faux Wood is much heavier that real wood so they can be harder to raise when used on large windows.

Q: What window treatment is best for insulting purposes?

Answer: Cellular (Honeycombs) shades have the best R value closely followed by shutters. Cellulars come in single or double cell and are available with specialty features such as top down/bottom up.
